GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS

Cuisinart-WAF-B50-Breakfast-Express-Waffle-fig-1

For your protection, the Cuisinart® Breakfast Express® Belgian Waffle/Omelet Maker is supplied with a molded 3-prong grounding-type plug and should be used in combination with a properly connected grounding-type outlet as shown in the illustration.

SPECIAL CORD SET INSTRUCTIONS

A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance, and the longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or animals, or tripped over. The extension cord should be a grounding 3-wire cord. This appliance is for 120 volts only and should not be used with a converter. Failure to comply voids the warranty.

BEFORE FIRST USE

Before using your Cuisinart® Breakfast Express® Belgian Waffle/Omelet Maker for the first time, remove any dust from shipping by wiping the plates with a damp cloth. NOTE: This Cuisinart® Breakfast Express® Belgian Waffle/Omelet Maker has been treated with a special nonstick coating. Before the first use, we suggest you season the waffle grids and omelet plates by brushing them with cooking oil. Wipe with a paper towel or pastry brush.

TO FACILITATE OPENING AND CLOSING THE BREAKFAST EXPRESS®, PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW.
TO OPEN: Place thumb on top of lip of lower handle, and index finger under lip of upper handle. Push open. TO CLOSE: Place the thumb on the top handle, and fingers under the bottom handle. Pull together until shut.
NOTE: Please note that top and bottom grid covers may separate slightly during use. This is normal. Should this occur, do not close the handles to rotate until the unit beeps, indicating that the baking cycle is completed. To reduce grid separation and overflow during cooking, you may want to reduce the quantity of batter.
  7. For best results, do not open the waffle/omelet maker during the cooking process. Doing so will throw off the timing mechanism.

Making Waffles

  2. Close the top lid cover and rotate the waffle side 180°.
  3. When the waffle is baked to the desired doneness, the unit will beep three times and the green indicator light will illuminate.

  5. When you are finished baking, turn the unit switch to the OFF position and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Allow the unit to cool completely before handling.

Making an Omelet

  1. After the Breakfast Express® is preheated and ready for baking, open the omelet maker. Pour the egg mixture evenly on the omelet plate.
  2. Close the top lid cover and let the mixture stand for 20 seconds. Then rotate the omelet side 180°. The green indicator light will turn off.
  3. When the omelet is baked to the desired doneness, the unit will beep three times and a green indicator light located on the omelet cover will light.
  4. Rotate the omelet maker so that the lit indicator light is at the top position. Raise the top cover and remove the baked omelet. Repeat for additional omelets.
  5. When you are finished baking, turn the unit switch to the OFF position and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Allow the unit to cool completely before handling.

Note: One waffle and one omelet can be baked at the same time. Please follow the above instructions.

TIPS AND HINTS

Setting #1 will produce the lightest color waffles or omelets. Setting #6 will produce the darkest color waffles or omelets. Experiment to determine your preferred settings. For evenly filled waffles, pour the batter into the center of the lower plate and spread the batter out evenly to the edges. The entire lower plate should be filled. For best results, we recommend filling the supplied measuring cup to the top so it will fill the lower plate with the correct amount of batter.

For added convenience while baking waffles, rest the measuring cup with the handle hanging on the outside of the bowl and scoop on the inside of the bowl until the next baking cycle.

To measure flour, stir the flour first to aerate it since it settles when it sits. Then spoon it into a measuring cup, leveling off the top with the back of a knife – do not pack down into a measuring cup. These quick steps will help you avoid heavy waffles.

Note: When making omelets, frittatas, pancakes, and cornbread, close the top lid and let the mixture stand for 20 seconds before rotating the omelet side 180˚.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Once you have finished baking, press the switch to the OFF position; remove the plug from the electrical outlet. Leave the top lid open and allow grids/plates to cool before cleaning. Never take your Breakfast Express® apart for cleaning. To clean, simply brush crumbs from grooves and absorb any excess cooking oil by wiping with a dry cloth or paper towel. You may also clean the plates by wiping them with a damp cloth to prevent staining and sticking from batter or oil buildup.

Be certain that grids/plates have cooled completely before cleaning. If the batter adheres to grids/plates, simply pour a little cooking oil onto the baked batter and st for approximately five minutes, allowing the batter to soften for easy removal. To clean the exterior, wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Never use an abrasive cleanser or harsh pad. NEVER IMMERSE THE CORD, PLUG, OR UNIT IN WATER OR OTHER LIQUIDS.

Maintenance: Any other servicing should be performed by an authorized service representative.

FAQs About Cuisinart WAF-B50 Breakfast Express Waffle

What is the best setting for the Cuisinart waffle maker?

For golden brown waffles, setting #3 is what we advise. 7. When the waffle is cooked, use a heat-resistant plastic spatula to carefully release the edges and remove it.

How to season a Cuisinart waffle maker?

Note: A unique nonstick coating has been applied to the Cuisinart® Classic Waffle Maker. We recommend seasoning the grids with flavorless vegetable oil or cooking spray before using them for the first time. Use a paper towel or pastry brush to add oil if you’re using it.

What temperature do you cook waffles on a Cuisinart griddle?

Preheat the oven to 400°F, or 200°C. 4. The Griddle dial’s green indicator light will turn on when it is warmed. A generous cup of batter should be poured onto the center of the lower plate. Using a heatproof spatula, spread the batter evenly to cover the waffle grid.

How do I know when my Cuisinart waffle maker is done?

Indicator Lights: A red light indicates that the waffle maker is turned on; a green light indicates that the waffle is ready to bake and consume.

Is Cuisinart a good brand for waffle makers?

I can’t think of anything I don’t like about this waffle maker yet. It’s still less expensive than many other waffle makers and is robust, hot, and simple to operate (insert self-deprecating joke here). Simple to suggest. With this waffle maker, I am really happy.

Do you preheat a waffle maker?

We advise preheating the waffle iron (regardless of brand) for at least 10 minutes (or up to 20 minutes if you have the time) before using it to ensure an even heating surface from edge to edge.

How long does a Cuisinart waffle maker take to heat up?

Set the dial on the Cuisinart® Flip Belgian Waffle Maker to the temperature you want it to be. When it is fully heated, the Ready indication light will turn on. It should take about four minutes to heat up for the first waffle in each baking session.

Do you need to grease a Cuisinart waffle maker?

We recommend seasoning the grids with cooking spray or flavorless vegetable oil before using them for the first time. Use a paper towel or pastry brush to add oil if you’re using it. It could be beneficial to carry out this procedure once more before using the waffle maker.

How to remove plates from a Cuisinart waffle maker?

After cooking is complete, disconnect the power cord from the wall socket and switch the temperature dial to Off. Before handling, let the device cool down completely. To remove plates from the housing, press the plate release buttons.

How much batter to put in a Cuisinart vertical waffle maker?

It is advised to use the measuring cup that is supplied. You might use ¾ to 1 cup of batter per waffle, depending on the batter’s thickness. Since batter tends to expand while cooking, it is always best to err on the side of less. The waffle maker should not be filled to the top of the waffle grid.
